The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) militant group said Friday it was responsible for the attack in Turkey's capital Ankara earlier in the week.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, a car bomb exploded at a military housing complex near the parliament building in the Turkish capital, killing 28 people.

"This action was carried out as revenge for our defenseless civilians murdered in basements in Cizre," the group said in a statement on its website, vowing to continue attacks.

Dozens of people were allegedly killed by Turkish forces in the Kurdish town of Cizre earlier in the month while seeking refuge in basements.
