BAGHDAD (Sputnik) – Iraq and Russia have reached an agreement to expand bilateral economic ties, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari said Thursday.
"We have agreed on cooperation between business associations of Iraq and Russia, commercial contacts in private sector, and exchange of information on investment opportunities in Iraq," Jaafari said at a joint news conference with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin in Baghdad.
The Iraqi minister also said the sides agreed direct contacts between Iraqi and Russian commercial banks and reached understanding on cooperation in the energy sector.
