MOSCOW (Sputnik) —Bahrain intends to develop cooperation with Russia in the gas and oil, as well as space sectors, the Bahraini ambassador to Russia told Sputnik.

"We are paying great attention to cooperation with Russia in the oil and gas sphere because Russia has great experience in geological exploration. Russia is a producing country of oil and gas, and also has experience in processing of raw materials. We want to cooperate because Bahrain has coastal areas suitable for exploration," Ahmed Abdulrahman Saati said.

The official noted that the current situation on the oil market allows to start exploration of new fields, and the Russian technologies could be of assistance.

"Earlier this year we had a meeting with representatives of Roscosmos [Russian space agency], there is great desire to cooperate. We have our own structure in the space exploration sphere which we created a year ago, we have desire to establish an exchange of information, experience, research between the countries," the ambassador said.
