Israeli Court to Hear Case of Russian Detained on US Warrant in Camera

Israeli court decided to have a case of the Russian national Alexei Burkov detained in Israel on a US warrant heard in camera, Burkov's lawyer Mikhail Ironi said Sunday.

JERUSALEM (Sputnik) – Burkov was detained by Israeli police at the Ben Gurion international airport on December 15 on an arrest warrant issued by the relevant US authorities.

"There is a decision about 'in camera' that's why I can not give you more information at the moment," Ironi told reporters after a court hearing.

The Russian Foreign Ministry deemed the detention of its national as another case of an extraterritorial use of US laws in respect to Russian citizens, which has taken on "chronic nature."

Two representatives of the Russian embassy to Israel attended the hearing, however they refused to give any comments.
