Europe and Turkey closed airspace for Russian Long-Range Aviation planes carrying out airstrikes on Daesh positions in Syria, forcing Russian pilots to reroute, Deputy Commander Maj. Gen. Anatoly Konovalov said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Konovalov, Russian pilots had to leave for Syria from Russia’s northernmost Olenegorsk military airport in order to bypass Europe and then cross the Mediterranean Sea toward Syria.

"There were certain issues that excluded the possibility of performing the tasks by other means. Europe would not allow us, Turkey would not allow us," Konovalov said.

He added that even in such conditions, Russia’s Long-Range Aviation proved its capability to perform the assigned tasks.

Russia has been conducting airstrikes on positions of IS, a group outlawed in many countries including Russia, in Syria since late September at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

That is the difference in power projection between Russia and the US. America can project power to the areas that count in Eurasia rather ineffectively and only at enormous cost. Russia can easily reach those areas by virtue of its geographical position. America is only able to do so with respect to Canada and the Caribbean.

Europe plays silly political games. Russia's fight against terrorism is ,also, for Europe's benefit. It is unacceptable and insane for Europe to follow Turkey's policy. EU should cooperate with Russia both financially and military.
  • Europe is a terror supporter just like NATO. Its easy to see now. Shameful.
  • Those challenges posed by Europe and Turkey are proving the Russian Military the best opportunities to tune-up its military in next-to-worst scenarios !

Andrew Joyce, I agree. This is much more serious than "silly political games". People are dying and suffering by the millions. For what, greed for oil and war profits?

Dan, I have thoughts about this too. The Pentagon acts like this is a drain on Russia. NATO is destroying itself and making Russia stronger. I forget where i learned it, but the moral authority to govern is crucial. NATO countries have lost that.

jas, 'moral authority" means that the people are rooted in the "sacred" whatever you want to call it. yes, evil is powerful but not as powerful as the Light. Since the beginning in 2014 of the coup in Ukraine, I could not help feeling that we are not fighting humans, but evil forces, that want to destroy everything has been sacred to humans for thousands years. They will not pass.

Must Europe directly care and support terrorists? To support Turkey was bad enough!
  • Mitach2002
Scum Turkey will get everything it deserves.

NATO and Turkey are after dark friends of the Takfiri freaks.

On orders from whom? Those not liking the fact that their oil business with DAESH is being interrupted?

    Russell,
True, but there are two USA's; which one do you refer to?

There is the American people, who live in a fantasy world where a constitutional US still exists and then there is a Khazarian Mafia-owned corporation, illegal and illegitimate, doing business as United States of America (Barry Soetoro, CEO). Since this corporation isn't truly bound by the abrogated constitution of 1787, it can do whatever it likes, including keeping a so-called President and commander-in-chief without a valid birth certificate in office. This is deadly, not only to peace in the world, but to this entity itself when as we have seen, the lack of anything that unifies it opens the door to opportunistic factionalization that has resulted in operating without a coherent foreign policy with respect to Russia, China, Syria, Ukraine, NATO, or anything else. The clock is quickly running out for the American people to wake up and realize what's really going on instead of flag waving and rallying to an owned goy clown like Donald Trump as if it will solve anything.
The Khazarian mafia is the key in all of this, and it is the arch-enemy of the whole world, Especially, Russia. Superficially tracing all the world's problems to the USA doorstep and leaving it there only identifies half of the problem and America bashing as a knee jerk reaction keeps the whole problem hidden, which plays into the hands of the world's real enemy: As long as the world rails at USA it serves as the foil allowing the Khazarian mafiosi to complete their work through the United Nations of forcing the New World Order.
The "color revolutions," the destruction of the World Trade Center, the invasions of multiple countries including Afghanistan and Iraq, the utterly false "War on Terror," etc. are not discrete, unrelated events but a Khazarian Mafia orchestration of world take down, domination and then world depopulation. The question the people of the world have to address is, will their vision of a New World become the world they want to live in, or will they recognize it before it's too late and put an end to it? So far it seems that the only one opposing all this has been Vladimir Putin and Russia. I don't think they can do it alone.

I suppose this is 'Turkey's' way of fighting Daesh?
  • Jg38691
Russia is not fighting Daesh or ISIS....they are fighting the legitimate opposition to murderer Assad. Putin is afraid of losing his only ME ally and will soon know that his actions will backfire. Putin is a narcissist....short, bald, impotent...likes photo with his shirt off.

Yet another example of the EU being an ISIS accomplice doing their Master's (USA) bidding. They all created the terrorist threat to destabilize, invade and destroy any opponents of the Hegemon. Those nations who dared to follow a sovereign path of development and maintained a semblance of decency are enemies.... the fight is between good and evil and we must not let them win. I'd rather see the world in ashes as opposed to a world ruled by evil.

Quote from globalresearch.ca - The Israeli Connection and the Port of Ceyhan

It is also no coincidence that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backed Massoud Barzani’s takeover of Kirkuk and other disputed territories in Iraq. Barzani and Netanyahu even called for the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan simultaneously in 2014. In fact, with the help of Turkey and Genel Energy, the Kurdistan Regional Government used its energy links to Turkey to transport oil through the Kirkuk-Ceyhan Pipeline to Israel.

I think it time to put away the chess board and bring out the tanks etc. This is not a game any more, it is clear what the powers to be would like to see. They will be sitting on the moon or mars watching us burn on this planet that once was good. Maybe they will get theirs out there and nobody will care. That's if there is any one left alive after it's all over. "Merry Christmas".
