MANILA (Sputnik) — Canada remains to be a committed partner in the anti-Islamic State coalition and will help fight the terrorist group in both diplomatic and military terms, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday.
“Canada is committed to continuing to be a valuable partner in the coalition against ISIS to ensure that we continue to work with our partners and allies so that we have the best possible impact.” Trudeau told reporters commenting on his consolations with US President Barack Obama on the fight against the Islamic State on the sidelines of APEC summit in Manila.
“I told him [Obama] I recognize the multilateral approach that every single nation should have,” he said.
Trudeau added that Ottawa’s aid would include humanitarian missions, working with refugees, as well as diplomatic and military aid.
“We are going to be on humanitarian efforts, with refugees, on diplomatic and political outcomes. We are also going to continue to be there in military terms and that is what all the leaders should do,” Trudeau said.
