The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs issued on Tuesday an advisory regarding threats of Islamic State (IS) jihadist group violence in India, a source in the ministry told Sputnik.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — The recommendation advises all state governments to closely monitor social media platforms to identify online youth recruitment by the extremists, the source added.

The Islamic State militant group is known for recruiting young people from around the world by the extensive use of social media.

In August, India finalized a National Counter-Terror Framework, raising Indian government awareness of existing and emerging threats to national security through comprehensive analysis of online social media.

The Indian government announced that it would set up a round-the-clock so-called Situation Room to analyze social media and counter the appeal and effectiveness of IS.
