CAIRO (Sputnik) – The three-party investigative committee handling the in-flight recorders of the ill-fated Russian A-321 passenger jet that crashed over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula over the weekend has ruled out the plane was struck by a missile, Egypt’s Al-Masri al-Youm news portal reported Monday, citing sources in the committee.
“The cause of the plane falling is some sort of failure inside the aircraft before it fell, which excludes the probability of its falling because of a missile or outside attack, as some sites close to the Islamic State terrorist group claim,” the news agency cited the sources as saying.
A Russian Kogalymavia Airbus A-321 passenger airliner, with 217 passengers and seven crew members on board, crashed in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt on Saturday, leaving no survivors.
