The Obama administration is reportedly embroiled in a new debate on the potential creation of no-fly zones and 'safe havens' in Syria.

The establishment of no-fly zones and safe havens in Syria topped the agenda of a White House meeting earlier this week, the New York Times reported, citing sources in the White House.

During the October 18 gathering, US Secretary of State John Kerry and a number of other high-ranking officials approved the idea, while Pentagon chief Ashton Carter pointed to the extensive military resources required to enforce such zones in Syria.

Also on the meeting's agenda was establishing safe zones to render humanitarian aid to civilians, based on Syria's borders with Turkey and Jordan.

The meeting came just two weeks after White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest dismissed the idea of creating a no-fly zone in Syria, which he said would distract the US-led coalition from the fight against Islamic State militants.

Previously, Turkey had proposed a buffer zone in northern Syria, but the United States and NATO did not support this initiative.

On October 5, the Financial Times newspaper reported, in turn, that the Russian operation in Syria had disrupted the implementation of Washington's plans to establish a no-fly zone over the territory of Syria.

On September 30, more than fifty Russian aircraft, including Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34 warplanes, commenced precision airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Syria at the behest of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Earlier that day, the Russian upper house of parliament unanimously supported the request of President Vladimir Putin to deploy units of the Russian Aerospace Forces abroad.

Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad confirmed that Syrian Army strikes, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, were carried out against armed terrorist organizations, not political opposition factions or civilians.

The insanity of the US government and institutions never ends. There are way too many witnesses to the Libyan "no-fly zone" and the Iraqi "no-fly zone" for a Syrian one to be accepted by much of the world outside the US and allies. In any case such a zone would confirm absolutely the US collusion with child-abusing, rapist decaptitators, since they would be the main beneficiary of this "no-fly zone."

No fly zone means terrorist training camps and zones to deliver more weapons to Islamic Terror . No fly zones LOL ....

The US' only concern now is if they're regarded as weak or strong. Public opinion is against them anyhow.

Syria doesn't belong to U.S. And closing a national air space could lead to war with Russia. Russia will NOT recognize it. And may close Syria's air space on retaliation.
Great way to start a war.
It shows west desperation to protect terrorists inside Syria.

I saw the CN... videos of the hospital attack. There is NO HOSPITAL.
Now they claim is a CIVIL DEFENSE center. More lies. Those are NOT CD. CD in Syria is run by Syrian government.
They look like FSA and terrorists, hiding. The other part of cluster bombs, doesn't look like them either. Then show an abandon house, with kids talking. Claiming he was living there and of course a very emotional moment..
Not seen on Palestine news segments, Syrian kids when west terrorists attack, Afghanistan, or elsew\ where.. ALL MSM propaganda from west. WOW, so much lies. Russian media needs to get MSM in west. SO people can see the differences.

There should be a No-Fly zone around the globe for US military planes, drones and other killer machines. Maybe even above US ground - I'm sure it would be safer for US-citizens as well.

This shows how desperately the Zionazi´s in occupied Palestine and their inbreed ape-tribal mates in Saudi Arabia Turkey and Qatar are on getting the "Clean Break" and the "Yinon-plan" through.

Syria has to be partitioned along sectarian lines at any cost so that the Qatar-Turkey pipeline can be built, which is what the war is about.

But, and that is a big one, the US fascists are delusional. There is already a NFZ in Syria, a Russian/Syrian one. If US tries to illegally occupy one tiny part of Syria with a NFZ the Russian one will immediately be activated and planes will, legitimately by defence of Syria and int. law, start to fall out of the sky.

Most thinking people know by now what the US means by this, to preserve ISIL and use terrorists as part of its foreign policy. It's a good idea only if the US wants WWIII. I really don;'t see how it's the least bit feasible, and it seems too much like desperation. The US should be grateful that Russia is cleaning out terrorists and forcing them to flee. So sad that the US seems to support such cruel criminals and killers and rapists. This is destroying US credibility.

Trust me the US neocons and scum partners have no good intentions in Syria, this so called no fly zone is but a ploy to get their mercenaries out of Syria and regroup, Russia should bomb this terrorist filth into oblivion.
These filth should understand they have forfeited their rights as living humans by committing their beyond animalistic atrocities.
Speaking of humanitarian aid , I don't see humanitarian aid in Yemen by the coalition bombing everyone in sight?
Stop the US neocons destroying infrastructure.
Initiate a comms and target denial dome of Syria, they have no legal right to be there, Iraq is in the process to boot them out as well. Learn from history, Don't trust these evil men / women who speak with forked tongue.

We appear to be approaching a moment in time when the hubris in Washington will lead us into nuclear oblivion.

If Russia does not agree, they won't be able to implement it ,as their electronic co-ordinates would be neutralized . This is just smoke being blown up our behinds.
