Iran, P5+1 Strike Nuclear Deal: Agreement in Details
VIENNA (Sputnik) — The document, signed on Tuesday by IAEA chief Yukiya Amano and his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, will give the watchdog power to have alleged military aspects of Iran's nuclear program clarified by the end of 2015.

"I have just signed the Road-map between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA for the clarification of past and present outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear programme," Amano said in a statement cited in the IAEA press release.

Tehran must reply to IAEA inquiries in writing by August 15, presenting related paperwork and proofs regarding its nuclear activities. The agency will have until September 15 to review the data and draft a list of further clarifications, if any are needed.

The agreement provides for "technical-expert meetings, technical measures, as agreed in a separate arrangement" and discussions between Iran and the IAEA to address any ensuing ambiguities.

The roadmap mentions a separate as-yet-unpublished arrangement regarding Iran’s Parchin military site. The watchdog had repeatedly sought access to the facility.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators came to a final agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program after over two weeks of round-the-clock talks.

The West has accused Iran of pursuing a nuclear weapon under the guise of a peaceful nuclear program, a claim the Islamic republic has repeatedly denied. The agreement seeks to prove its peaceful intentions in return for sanctions easing.
