China Demands Evidence After US Accuses Beijing of Hacking Federal Database
BEIJING (Sputnik) – The former US secretary of State and Democratic Party front-runner charged Beijing of "trying to hack into everything that doesn’t move" on a campaign trail over the weekend.

"China has repeatedly stated its principled position on network security," Hua Chunying said at a press briefing.

The ministry spokeswoman stressed the increasing importance of developing Sino-US relations "in a constructive spirit and approach to strengthening dialogue and cooperation."

"The two sides… jointly cope with various challenges, in line with the interests of the two countries, but also conducive to peace and prosperity in the world and the region," Hua said.

Clinton leveled her cybersecurity accusation against China in response to US National Intelligence Director James Clapper announcement that China was the lead suspect in the cyberattack on the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

Nearly 18 million current, former and prospective US federal employees’ personal data was thought to be breached in the OPM attack.
