Former Head of Brazilian Football Confederation Accused of Corruption
GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN (Sputnik) The issue of corruption will be on the agenda of an annual Group of Seven (G7) summit underway in Germany, Bavaria, European Council President Donald Tusk said Sunday.

"We want to use the summit to discuss corruption. We need to fight corruption," Tusk stressed.

Last week, seven high-ranking FIFA officials were arrested in Switzerland on a US federal corruption warrant. Switzerland also launched a separate investigation into the selection process of World Cup host countries, particularly Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.

On Tuesday, long-time FIFA president Joseph Blatter resigned amid corruption revelations just days after being reelected.
