FBI Director’s Holocaust Remark 'Outrageous' - Polish Foreign Minister
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Budapest called FBI head James Comey's recent assertion that Poland and Hungary must share responsibility for the Holocaust a defamatory and superficial generalization.

In an op-ed published by the Washington Post last week, Comey mentioned that Poles and Hungarians were home to "murderers and accomplices" of the Holocaust, as well as Germany.

"The words of the FBI director reflect astonishing insensitivity and impermissible superficiality. We are not accepting from anyone such generalizations and defamation of Hungary, the Hungarian people," the Hungarian foreign ministry's press office said as quoted by the Wall Street Journal on Monday.

The ministry is expected to send a letter protesting Comey's remarks to the Embassy of the United States in Budapest.

Hours after the publication of Comey's opinion piece on Thursday, Poland's ambassador to the United States sent a letter of protest, accusing the FBI chief of distorting history. On Monday, Warsaw demanded that Comey make an official apology.
