Over 300 survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of Nazi genocide are calling out Israel for killing over 2,000 Palestinians in Gaza, The New York Times reports.

MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - Over 300 survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of Nazi genocide are calling out Israel for killing over 2,000 Palestinians in Gaza, The New York Times reports.

“We must raise our collective voices and use our collective power to bring about an end to all forms of racism, including the ongoing genocide of Palestinian people. We call for an immediate end to the siege against and blockade of Gaza. We call for the full economic, cultural and academic boycott of Israel. ‘Never again’ must mean NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYONE!” the group wrote in an open letter released by the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network and published as an advertisement in The New York Times.

The letter, signed by 40 Holocaust survivors and 287 descendants of Holocaust survivors or victims, describes the conflict in Gaza as “genocide.” The signatories are disgusted by the racist dehumanization of Palestinians and condemn Israeli politicians for supporting the genocide of Palestinians and use of Neo-Nazi insignia, the letter states.

The letter also blames the United States for worsening the situation in Gaza by funding Israel’s attacks. The letter condemns the United States for using its diplomatic powers to protect Israel from suffering the consequences of its deadly violence.

“Furthermore, we are disgusted and outraged by Elie Wiesel’s abuse of our history in these pages to justify the unjustifiable: Israel’s wholesale effort to destroy Gaza and the murder of more than 2,000 Palestinians, including many hundreds of children. Nothing can justify bombing UN shelters, homes, hospitals and universities. Nothing can justify depriving people of electricity and water,” the signatories wrote in response to Nobel Peace laureate Elie Wiesel’s advertisement supporting Israel’s violence against Hamas.

Wiesel’s advertisement, which argued Hamas should be stopped from using children as human shields, is what inspired the open letter, according to The Independent.

Israel launched Operation Protective Edge against the Hamas movement on July 8. On July 17, Israel switched to a ground offensive, targeting Hamas rocket launchers and a network of tunnels used by the terrorists along the Gaza border with western Israel. According to Palestinian health officials and UN figures, 2,100 Palestinians, including 500 children have been killed in the conflict in Gaza. Israel has reportedly lost 64 soldiers and four civilians.
