MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - A driver from Donetsk claims he narrowly escaped a missile which hit the road just about two meters away from his car, leaving a two-meter crater in the ground.

“I was driving when I heard a blast, the ground rose up and I fell into the crater and got covered with concrete. I stayed unconscious for some time,” Russian Zvezda TV reported citing the witness.

The witness, Vova Prach, is a car mechanic from Donetsk.

He claims his life was saved thanks to his car which was reinforced with an additional metal frame. The incident was recorded by the vehicle’s dashboard camera.

Prach later uploaded the video to his personal account on the Russian social network VKontakte.

In the caption under the video he called the incident his “Second Birthday”.

It comes as yet another one in a string of Ukrainian army’s random attacks, which cause civilians to leave the ongoing conflict zone.

Artillery shelling hits residential areas, transport and cities’ infrastructure, bringing further havoc to Ukraine’s southeastern regions.

1,100 civilians have been killed in clashes between pro-Kiev forces and local self-defense units in Ukraine’s southeast since mid-April and over 100,000 local residents have fled the conflict zone since then.

The refugee flow has reached its peak this month, with around 60,000 people having requested refugee status or temporary shelter in Russia, Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) Director Konstantin Romodanovsky told journalists Tuesday.

According to Ukraine Security Council representative Andriy Lysenko, Ukrainian troops have now reached the eastern cities of Donetsk and Luhansk and are getting ready to take them by storm.
