MOSCOW, February 3 (RIA Novosti) – At least 30 people were killed and another 70 wounded after gunmen and a suicide bomber attacked a police complex in the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, Al Jazeera TV channel reported on Sunday.

The gunmen stormed the police compound after a car bomb was detonated by a suicide attacker, the police said.

The TV channel quoted witnesses as saying the suicide bomber vehicle was painted to appear as though it was a police car, and the gunmen who sought to seize the compound were dressed as policemen.

Kirkuk emergency services department chief Natah Mohammed Sabr said the attackers were armed with guns, grenades and suicide vests and were trying to force their way into the police headquarters after the turmoil caused by the car bomb.
