BALI, January 5 (RIA Novosti) – Police killed seven suspected Islamist terrorists in a two-day raid in the east of the country, local media said on Saturday.

A spokesman for Indonesia’s national police said two suspected members of Jama'ah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT) were killed outside a mosque on Sulawesi Island on Friday.

Five other militants of the Indonesian extremist group were killed on Sumbawa Island, Detik.com reported.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had earlier called on police to cleanse Central Sulawesi province's city of Poso from illegal armed groups after three police were killed and three others injured in a shootout in the area.
