At least six people were killed after a suicide bomber struck outside the headquarters of the NATO-led international coalition (ISAF) in Kabul on Saturday, al Jazeera television reported.

An attacker on a motorcycle blew himself up near the entrance of Camp Eggers, an ISAF spokeswoman said. The facility, which is home to some 2,500 personnel, has been put on "lockdown" following the blast, she said.

A number of children are among the dead, an Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman said. There were no reports of casualties among ISAF troops.

The Taliban said they carried out the attack, targeting U.S. intelligence.
