Indian police have arrested an alleged tutor of ten gunmen who carried out the 2008 terrorist attack on Mumbai which killed more than 160 people, the Times of India newspaper reported on Monday.

Abu Hamza, also known as Syed Zabiuddin, was detained on June 21 after he arrived in India from an unspecified Gulf country.

Hamza's voice matched a recorded one which gave instructions to the ten terrorists behind the November 2008 attacks, which targeted luxury hotels, the main railway station and a Jewish cultural centre.

The lone surviving gunmen from the 60-hour assault, Ajmal Kasab, was given a death sentence in May 2010.

India blamed the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba for the attacks.

Pakistan later admitted the attacks had been partially planned on its territory and indicted several people over them.
