A U.S. drone has killed at least 10 suspected militants on Thursday, in the north-west of Pakistan in a second such attack in 24 hours, according to BBC news.

The airstrike targeted a compound in the North Waziristan tribal area, and also damaged a nearby mosque and residences.

The strike comes after four suspected militants were killed yesterday, in a drone strike on a compound near Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan.

Pakistan has repeatedly expressed its official displeasure with air strikes by U.S. drones and NATO air raids in the north-west of Pakistan. Islamabad closed NATO supply routes to Afghanistan after NATO helicopters attacked a checkpoint in Mohmand, a Pakistani tribal area in the north-west of the country, killing 24 Pakistani soldiers in November 2011.

On May 18 Pakistan allowed four shipping containers destined for the U.S. embassy in Kabul to cross into Afghanistan via the Torkham border post. At present Washington and Islamabad have been negotiating terms to re-open NATO supply routes to Afghanistan. At the same time Islamabad is insisting that the U.S. military end drone strikes in Pakistan. Washington has so far refused to stop drone attacks but has reduced the intensity of such raids.
