Slavyansk self-defense activists claim to have shot down Ukraine army plane
"About half an hour ago we managed to bring down the Ukrainian army's Su-25. One helicopter, several tanks and one armored personnel carrier of the Ukrainian army were destroyed as well," Slavyansk people's mayor, Vyacheslav Ponomaryov, told Interfax.
For his part, a spokesman for the Slavyansk self-defense headquarters said that eight helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are currently buzzing over Slavyansk, and another one over the village of Cherevkovka.
Ukrainian National Guard soldiers manning a checkpoint near Slavyansk have not allowed two buses carrying children to leave the city, Ponomaryov said.
"These buses are trying to take 80 children out of the city. However, the National Guard keeps turning them back," he said.
