Russia Today’s English newswire to be launched in April
"A renewed English newswire will be launched on April 1. We will use the old brand for the time being, but leading international specialists are already working on the new brands and they will be ready soon," Simonyan said. The agency will launch a Spanish wire on April 1 and the new wire will be available round-the-clock on June 1.
"The wires in other languages will be launched before the end of this year," Simonyan said. "Multimedia hubs will be created on the entire post-Soviet space, which will broadcast in the languages of these republics and in Russian."
"Information sites and other online projects aimed at informing the audiences in these countries, with regard for the interests of every audience. We will be targeting specific audiences. We have never done that before. Another 12 multimedia hubs with radio and online broadcasting in different languages will be created in the leading world capitals. The most modern technologies will be used for disseminating information," Simonyan explained.
The editor-in-chief stressed that Russia Today’s ambitious plans wouldn’t require additional funding. "We are not asking additional money for all that, which means we will have to optimize something to get resources for the creation of something more modern. We will stop using obsolete radio broadcasting models, when the signal is transmitted without any control and when it is impossible to calculate who listens to it and where," she said.
