Russia's Matryoshka doll to become trademark of Federal Agency
A Matryoshka doll, also known as Russian nesting dolls, is considered to be a traditional Russian souvenir, which is the most popular souvenir among tourists. It came into being at the end of the 19th century.
The Federal Agency is working out a brand style to promote international development. On the results of the tender for the development of a brand style the logotype was created and registered in six official languages of the United Nations (UN).
Work is currently being done to establish in what cases this logotype is due to be used. It is planned that it will be put on various carriers. Besides, all events involving Russia’s efforts to promote international development will have this logotype as well.
Its visual image will be a phrase, From the People of Russia, with Latin letters and a Matryoshka doll above it. The new logo will have a tricolor mix (white, blue and red ), which are the colours of the Russian flag, and the phrase will be translated into the six official languages of the United Nations.
The Roscooperation Agency said that the decision on the development of a brand style was made after powers were granted to the Federal Agency to promote international cooperation.
General Director of the Centre for Political Information Alexei Mukhin says that any country that wants to position itself in the international arena must have its own symbols.
“There were hammer and sickle in the Soviet era times, a quality sign and the like. Therefore, I believe the initiative of the Roscooperation Agency is timely and important. A Matryoshka doll as a symbol of Russia has a deep philosophical meaning. It is a symbol of Motherhood and fertility. I’m sure that it is a good choice. Matryoshka dolls are associated with Russia. Although this sign seems to be funny, it will be of great help in identifying a Russian citizen in any part of the world.”
