13 die in bus collision in Russia's Samara
Three people were seriously injured in the crash, which took place overnight into Sunday, the Itar-Tass news agency reported, citing a local branch of the Emergencies Ministry.
The vehicles in the accident collided head on and the minibus caught fire, according to the report. A police spokesman told Itar-Tas that the bus driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, drifting into oncoming traffic and leading to the accident.
"The bus went up in flames immediately. The occupants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan had no chance."
The driver, 36, survived and has been arrested. He has said the accident was caused by a blown tire.
