The United States, which has taken the role of the world's policeman, continues to ignore international law, procedural standards, diplomatic conventions and multi-lateral agreements. Roman Seleznev was literally kidnapped by the US from the Maldives on an internal grand jury finding that even a judge in the Maldives did not feel was credible enough to grant the issuing of an arrest warrant. Radio VR spoke to a witness to the kidnapping to get a clearer picture of what actually happened.
Since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine the government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Armed Forces, the president of the Russian Federation and Russia's leaders have dealt with the threat to Russia's national security strictly within the guidelines of international and national law, in keeping with all international norms and conventions, within the framework of the United Nations and its charter and have maintained the moral and ethical high ground.
The father of Roman Seleznev has offered a $50,000 reward for information regarding the arrest of his son in the Maldives, including any video or other evidence supporting the reports and witness statements that it was American agents that arrested, questioned and then transported his son to Guam. The case is another example of the United States and the CIA flaunting international laws and forcing countries to allow them free reign.
On July 11, 1995, two NATO warplanes bombed Serbian forces, advancing on Srebrenica. But due to the bad weather and the fact that Serbian forces were holding French and Dutch prisoners of war, NATO called off what was to be a massive bombing campaign. Late in the afternoon, Serbian general Mladic and other commanders entered into Srebrenica. They had won, for the moment. This loss by NATO could not accept and through indirect manipulation and false representation of the facts, US and NATO slandered the Serbs and successfully changed the presentation of a legal military operation. Radio Voice of Russia spoke to Stephen Karganovic on the history of Srebrenica in this special interview on the nineteenth anniversary of those events.
There is almost no attention being paid to the humanitarian catastrophe that is occurring in Ukraine in the western media. On a daily basis the issue is ignored, downplayed, obfuscated or denied by officials, organizations and the media. Those who are bombing their own citizens into oblivion continue to act with malfeasance and complete impunity as they carry out their war crimes and their merciless punitive operation against their own civilians.
There is fear spreading through Europe of the specter of war, fuelled by aggressive war propaganda by the West in their attempt to demonize Russia. In Germany, for the first time, people do not trust their mass media. All over Europe appearing strange fascist parties. The blind drive by the US in pursuit of their geopolitical objectives in Europe and in Ukraine has placed the entire European continent in an unstable and extremely dangerous position.
The dangerous bellicose rhetoric and saber rattling declarations by the Kiev authorities continue to reach newer and higher levels with the new minister of defense wasting no time to issue yet another wild and dangerous statement. During his confirmation hearing to the post of defense minister in front of the Ukrainian post-coup parliament Valeriy Heletey boldly declared that there would be "… a victory parade in Ukraine's Sevastopol." Such a statement, for all intents and purposes, might be seen as being tantamount to a declaration of war against Russia.

The choice by US President Barack Obama and the neo-conservative Cold War hawks running the US foreign policy establishment of John F. Tefft as the new US Ambassador to Russia should be setting off warning bells all over the Kremlin and in fact in all of the countries currently undergoing or targeted for US regime change/destabilization operations including Venezuela, Brazil, Syria and all other countries pursuing an independent foreign policy.
The continuing punitive military operations in Ukraine bring into question how far a Government can go to crush dissent. The Western-backed government, in the eyes of many, is guilty of horrible crimes from Mariupol to Odessa. And there have been accusations of war crimes, as heavy artillery, white phosphorus and cluster bombs are being used in Slavyansk, Lugansk and other areas. Charles Shoebridge, a former military intelligence counterterrorism officer, believes that Ukraine is waging a punitive operation against its own people.
On the heels of submitting an official request to the Federation Council to repeal the authorization for the use of force in Ukraine, which was never used but was granted as a means to protect civilian and Russian lives, President Vladimir Putin headed to Austria on an official visit with President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer and expanded talks with high officials. President Putin stated that he was asking for the repeal to attempt to deescalate the situation and as the head of state to promote peace.
As huge swatches of Iraq and the Middle East begin to fall to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, an al-Qaeda terrorist groups, determined to create their own caliphate in the region, the similarities to their rise to power and other marginal violent groups with the support of the US/NATO/CIA, is something that peace loving citizens of the world should take heed of and be alarmed about.
Ukraine continues to aggressively provoke Russia with acts that could be interpreted as being tantamount to declarations of war. The latest aggression by Kiev against Russia is an attack by the Ukrainian army on a customs checkpoint at Novoshakhtinsk, Russia in the southern Rostov region on the Russian-Ukrainian border. The unprovoked shelling by the Ukrainian military has caused the partial destruction of the customs checkpoint and the serious injury of at least one Russian customs officer.
Part of the demonization that has allowed the Kiev junta to wage a war against ethnic Russians and the Russian speaking population in Ukraine is a very carefully planned and intense campaign of demonization and dehumanization. Another aspect is the silence and non-coverage in the western media of war crimes and atrocities being committed against innocent civilians. This was no more evident than in Victoria Nuland's recent visit to Odessa at a time when there was a ceremony being held for the victims who died at the House of Unions. While Nuland paid US officials paid respects to those who died on the Maidan she ignored the event and reportedly met with Kolomoisky or his representatives.
How is it that in our age of information technologies, the internet and lightning fast communications that a nazi junta has been allowed not only to come to power but has been allowed to legitimize itself and then engage in a war to (in their own words) clear out half of the country of those who are opposed to them?
The conflict in Ukraine started by the illegal junta government and nazi forces which continue to commit horrendous crimes with impunity because they have the full backing of their paymasters across the sea, has destabilized Europe and the world as the US continues to see its hegemony and influence decline. The unilateral and irrational attempt to isolate Russia by the US and prevent Russia from being an influential power is being facilitated by NATO which continues to make demands on its member countries which are damaging to their economies and security.
The 1961 Vienna Conventions on Consular Relations which entered into force on April 24 1964 and have hence been supplemented have been the guiding rules. The preeminent document governing the working of diplomatic missions around the world and clearly laying out the framework for international relations since its inception. The Vienna Conventions have proven to be one of the most respected and successful international documents in history respected and followed even during times of war. Therefore the attack on the Russian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine is a crime of international proportion which must be condemned by the entire international community.
Bulgaria’s acquiescence to the US hegemony in stopping work on the South Stream gas pipeline is another sign that the United States is effectively attempting to become the master of Europe if it is not already such. With no political or other socio-economic strings attached Russia was attempting to simply supply European consumers and states with a needed commodity to keep themselves warm and cook their meals. Russia provides Europe with very attractive prices, with no conditions attached, and was attempting to merely do business. This of course is something the US does not want.
US Vice President Joe Biden’s smiling and nodding attendance of the inauguration of Ukrainian President was the final stroke in legitimizing a leader and a government brought about by a US backed and orchestrated coup d’état. Sure Mr. Biden has a lot to smile about: not only has his government successfully destabilized another country for the US corporate military industrial complex but he has secured his youngest son Hunter Biden a million dollar job establishing his family's place in the future of the American elite hierarchal oligarchy.
President Vladimir Putin must be applauded, hailed and deeply respected for his statesmanship, his unwavering composure, his respect for protocol, his diplomacy and his iron self-control in maintaining his cool professionalism and business-like demeanor when being forced into what must have been a pressure cooker of historic proportions during the D-Day Celebrations in Normandy.
