Tokyo demands withdrawal of Chinese patrol ships from Senkaku water area
An official protest has been lodged with the Chinese Embassy in Japan. The Chinese ships are plying the waters in the immediate vicinity of the Senkaku Islands.
When the Japanese border-guards demanded that the boats leave, the Chinese crews said the islands have been Chinese territory from time immemorial.
Chinese ships have been entering the Senkaku water area on a regular basis since September last year, when the government of Japan actually nationalized the islands and closed them to visits by buying them out from the previous private owners, the citizens of Japan.
