Russian space experts shun from N. Korean satellite launch
Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, isn’t going to dispatch its experts to North Korea to attend the launch of its satellite “Kwangmyongsong-3” in mid April because it violates the UN Security Council resolution, the body’s spokesperson announced today.
On March 21, Roscosmos was officially invited to the launch of “Kwangmyongsong-3” by the North Korean Embassy to Russia. The event will mark the centenary of North Korea’s founder Kim Il-Sung’s birth.
South Korea, the US and Japan have accused North Korea of violating UN resolutions No. 1718 and 1874, which prohibit Korea to launch any kind of ballistic rockets.
Russia and China have also criticized North Korea for deviating from its obligations.
