Giant victory banner arrives in Zaporozhye
A giant copy of the Victory Banner has been carried along the downtown streets of the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye. Welcomed with a thunderous applause by hundreds of citizens, the 150-square-meter red banner was raised over the Dnieper Hydro Power Station dam.
The flag was delivered to the city by members of the Banner of Victory campaign, who drove a convoy of war-era cars from Odessa to Zaporozhye via Nikolayev, Kherson, Sevastopol and Simferopol.
On Monday, this banner will open the victory parade in Kiev as an official symbol of May 9th, pursuant to a decision by the Ukrainian government made in April this year.
