07:19 GMT 26.06.2018 (Updated: 19:48 GMT 17.10.2022) On June 24, Lionel Messi, Argentina's legendary striker, celebrated his 31st birthday. Residents of the Moscow suburb of Bronnitsy who were tasked with preparing the birthday gift apparently hoped to relieve the bitterness of Argentine's disappointing 3-0 loss to Croatia.
A big concert was held in Bonnitsy outside Moscow in Messi's honor, where the Argentine team has its World Cup headquarters. The highlight of the celebration, however, was a cake with a full-size chocolate statue of the star player. Confectioners spent six days making a 60-kilogram cake with Messi's chocolate doppelganger on top.
