Hello, Beautiful World! Meet Xiang-Xiang, Japan's Sweetest Panda Baby

This lovely panda cub was born to mother Shin Shin and father Ri Ri at Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo in June, and in accordance with Chinese tradition, has been given a name only 100 days after its birth. The female giant panda has been named Xiang Xiang, which can mean either “fragrance” or “popular” in Chinese.

The name of the three-month-old panda was announced on September 25, after it was chosen from a record 322,581 suggestions from the public. Xiang Xiang was the most popular name, suggested 5,161 times. According to officials, Xiang Xiang will make her public debut with her mother in December.
