No Way Back: Ukrainian Soldiers Allegedly Mine Two Bridges to Crimea

Russian border guards noticed armed men placing strange crates with wires under two bridges between Ukraine and the Crimea.

Russian border guards reported that armed men in camouflage placed 42 crates under two bridges on Ukrainian territory in February. Electric wires, connected to the crates, led to the positions of Ukrainian servicemen, NTV broadcaster commented.

It was estimated that the crates might contain up to two tons of explosives. That would be sufficient to demolish the both bridges. The Russian Security Service (FSB) noted that the placement of the alleged explosives occurred without stopping the movement of cars and people.

The FSB addressed the adjacent Ukrainian border guard department and asked to demine the bridges. However, the Ukrainian side ignored the request and remained silent.
