However, the US president has not clarified any details about Ukraine's attempts to sabotage his campaign. Trump did, however, criticize Sessions on his "weak position" on Clinton's crimes.
"Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!" Trump continued in a follow-up tweet.

On Wednesday, Trump said in an interview with New York Times that he would have never nominated Sessions for Attorney General if he knew the then-senator would recuse himself from overseeing the Justice Department’s Russia probe. Sessions’ decision to remove himself from the investigation followed The Washington Post’s reports that he had held two meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, despite denying contacts with Russian officials during his confirmation hearing.
