While Fiorina does not have an extensive background in the field of intelligence, she was a member and then a chair of an advisory board to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the presidency of George W. Bush.
In the 2016 election, Fiorina failed in her own bid for the Republican presidential nomination, and dropped out of the race in February.
Fiorina said she discussed US cybersecurity and Washington’s relations with Beijing during her meeting with Trump on Monday.
"We spent a fair amount of time talking about China, as probably our most important adversary," Fiorina told reporters in the Trump Tower lobby. "We then spent some time talking about hacking — both Chinese hacking and purported interference from Russia."
The businesswoman added that resetting the trajectory of the US economy and changing global perception of America are among the goals on the forefront of the presidential agenda.
Trump is scheduled to meet with his another former rival for the presidential nomination, Rick Santorum, later on Monday.
