"These new emails confirm that Hillary Clinton abused her office by selling favors to Clinton Foundation donors," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said, further demand a "serious, independent investigation to determine whether Clinton and others broke the law."
According to the watchdog group, the preferential treatment given to many Clinton Foundation donors "was at the specific request" of the Foundation’s executive Douglas Band.
One email exchange between Band and Clinton’s State Department top aide Huma Abedin apparently shows Bahraini Crown Prince Salman directed to go through the Clinton Foundation in order to get a meeting with the Secretary of State.
Judicial Watch is at the center of a lawsuit seeking the public release of thousands of emails recently unearthed in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s inquiry into Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.
Beginning in 2015, the State Department released 50,000 pages of emails, reportedly representing all of Clinton’s work-related correspondences. The release of additional emails, obtained by Judicial Watch under a Freedom of Information Act request, appear to contradict claims that Clinton turned over all work-related emails.
Under US law, federal employees are required to maintain all of their work emails as public records.
