WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President Barack Obama officially designated the US state of Wisconsin a disaster area, and released federal funding to repair damages inflicted by severe storms and flooding, the White House said in a press release.
"The president today declared a major disaster exists in the State of Wisconsin and ordered federal aid to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the area affected by severe storms and flooding during the period of July 11-12, 2016," the release stated on Tuesday.
Federal funding is available, the release added, for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms and flooding in eight counties and the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe.
