The Justice Department stated that Fishenko provided false information to sellers and concealed the intent to export technology.

In 2012, the US authorities charged Fishenko with illegal export of controlled microelectronics, conspiracy to launder money, obstruction of justice and acting as a foreign agent.

Fishenko pled guilty to the charges on September 9.
