Tesla CEO Elon Musk declared on Sunday via Twitter that he is igniting a new major project.

Musk intrigued his followers with a mysterious announcement that he began working on a "top secret Tesla masterplan, part 2." The electric-car maker didn't give much detail on the matter, probably because it is "top secret", but Twitter is already overflown with guesses, and some of the proposed ideas are quite bizarre.

One user joked that Musk should keep information about the project on Hillary Clinton's server if he wants it to remain "top secret."

The first masterplan was laid out in mogul's decade-old blog post entitled ‘The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me). The company has been delivering on its promises to "build sports car" and "use that money to build an affordable car." But the new announcement comes amid controversy over two recent incidents involving Tesla cars equipped with autopilot systems.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently looking into a May 7 accident that occurred in Florida, in which Tesla Model S crashed into a tractor trailer that drove across the highway perpendicular to the vehicle. NHTSA is examining the design and performance of the autopilot system in Model S.

Tesla blamed the fatality on rare circumstances of the crash, insisting that its Model S vehicles are safe. It also reminded Tesla drivers that the autopilot system, although it allows the car to keep itself in a lane, maintain speed and operate for a limited time in a driverless mode, is just "an assist feature."

In a more recent incident, a driver of a Tesla Model X crashed into a turnpike in Pennsylvania, but the company dismissed the allegations that the autopilot system had something to do with the crash. Investigation into the case is underway.

The masterplan may also be related to Tesla's last month' proposal to buy panel maker company SolarCity Corp over which Musk serves as chairman and principal shareholder. Musk expects the deal will help Tesla get into the market for sustainable energy for homes and businesses.

The CEO decided to keep everyone intrigued until next week, and Tesla representatives also did not comment on the announcement.
