NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Gallati pointed out that the NYPD has identified several people involved in making the threats, but has not deemed any of the threats credible.
"We are tracking numerous threats, but right now we don’t consider any of those threats credible," Galati stated. "We are tracking right now a total of 17 threats."
He added that the threats were called in or were made via social media.
On Thursday night, five police officers in Dallas, Texas were killed by a sniper after a peaceful demonstration against the police killing of two African American men in the states of Louisiana and Minnesota.
Earlier on Friday, the NYPD ordered all officers to work in pairs and remain vigilant.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said there is no credible threat toward the city or the NYPD at this time.
