"The fact is that Russian citizen Olga Pimanova is under house arrest in Chicago. We do not have official information about her detention," the press service stated.
The press office noted that "requests were sent to the competent US authorities to present the official information."
"Until we receive their response, we do not have clarity about what is happening, but on the basis of preliminary information at our disposal, the United States has no grounds for her detention," the embassy stated.
Russian Children's Ombudsman Pavel Astakhov has earlier said that the Russian Foreign Ministry and the embassy in the United States will provide assistance to the Russian citizen who was arrested for taking her daughter out of the country two years ago.
