MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The survey was conducted on May 16-19 among 829 registered voters and a random national sample of 1,005 adults on landlines and mobile phones.
"Never in the history of the [Washington] Post-ABC [News] poll have the two major party nominees been viewed as harshly as Clinton and Trump," the Washington Post daily said.
The joint survey showed 53 percent unfavorable view of Clinton, 12 of whom said they felt "somewhat" unfavorable and 41 percent said they felt "strongly" unfavorable. Her left-wing challenger Bernie Sanders logged 38 percent net unfavorable views.
Trump’s net unfavorable rating totaled 60 percent, 11 percent "somewhat" and 49 percent "strongly."
Despite Trump’s divisive rhetoric and the Clinton camp enjoying popular support from her pro-President Barack Obama campaign, nationwide polls have shown her double-digit lead over Trump shrinking as the presidential bid nears the nomination stages this July.
