Trump Would Lose to Clinton, Sanders if Elections Took Place Now - Poll
19:40 GMT 01.03.2016 (Updated: 10:47 GMT 06.08.2022) US Republican candidate Donald Trump would lose handily to either Democratic contender, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Senator Bernie Sanders, if the US presidential elections were held today, according to a CNN-ORC International poll released on Tuesday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) —The poll indicates Clinton would beat Trump 52 to 48 percent, and Clinton would be in a dead heat against Senator Ted Cruz — 48 percent to 49 percent respectively. Of the three leading Republicans candidates, only Senator Marco Rubio has an edge over Clinton with 50 percent to 47 percent.
However, Senator Sanders would easily beat all three candidates, Trump and Cruz by double digits and Rubio by 8 percentage points, according to the poll.
Yet Trump emerges as enigmatic candidate in the poll of 920 registered voters. Moreover, 38 percent of those surveyed view Trump as the candidate best able to fix the economy.
The responders clearly saw the state of the US economy as the most pressing issue compared to war, immigration, terrorism and health care.
Trump had the highest negative ratings of all remaining candidates, with 60 percent saying they have an unfavorable view of the businessman and former reality television star.
