WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has decided to end his 2016 bid for the White House after finishing sixth in the Republican primaries in New Hampshire, local media reported on Wednesday.
Christie is expected to make the announcement later in the day, Fox Business news reported.
The governor received about 7.5 percent of votes in the New Hampshire primaries on Tuesday, while businessman Donald Trump led the Republican candidates with receiving more than 35 percent of voter support, according to Decision Desk.
Christie had been polling well behind the leading Republican presidential candidates throughout the 2016 race. He gained only 1.8 percent of the caucus votes in Iowa on February 1.
