DES MOINES (Sputnik) — Iowa caucus voters expressed their support for the candidates of the two US major political parties in their bid to become party nominees and capture the US presidency.
The Iowa caucuses marked the start of the 2016 US presidential nomination process.
"I am very, very proud of my fellow citizens," Kaufmann stated on Monday night. "Record turnout, we are now over 180,000 people that participated in the Iowa caucuses."
Senator Ted Cruz won the Republican caucus by wining 28 percent of voter support followed by billionaire businessman Donald Trump with 24 percent, and Senator Marco Rubio with 23.0 percent.
