MOSCOW (Sputnik) – In July 2015, the car manufacturer recalled 1.4 million Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles from the US market to fix its software, after a group of hackers took control of a Jeep Cherokee, changing its speed and controlling brakes, radio, windshield wipers and transmission.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) five-month probe into the vulnerabilities of automotive radios allowed to determine and fix the glitch, the ABC broadcaster said Saturday.
According to the investigators, similar radios were installed in Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley cars, but their safety systems prevent hacking.
