MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The gunman was a suspect that an off-duty police officer was following on Friday, before the man crashed his vehicle and fled into a private home on Daisey Avenue, Long Beach, Los Angeles Police said as cited by CBS.
When police entered the home, they found two hostages with gunshot injuries and another hostage with a stab wound. According to preliminary information, the hostages were a father and his two sons. The third son had managed to escape through a window unharmed, CBS said.
The gunman tried to kill himself during the barricade situation and remains in grave condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, paramedics said on Friday as cited by CBS.
The three people injured by the gunman have been taken to the hospital but no information on their condition is available.
An investigation is underway.
