US Has No Specific Intelligence Indicating Terror Plots in Homeland – Obama

US President Barack Obama stated that the United States is doing its utmost to keep the country secure following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US security agencies found no evidence of Paris-like terror plots against the United States ahead of upcoming holidays, President Barack Obama said in a press conference on Wednesday.

“Right now we know of no specific and credible intelligence indicating a plot on the homeland,” Obama said.

Barack Obama added that the United States is doing its utmost to keep the country secure following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13.

“It’s understandable that people worry something similar could happen here. Watching the events in Paris made the threat feel closer to home. So, as we go into Thanksgiving weekend, I want the American people to know that is we are taking every possible step to keep our homeland safe,” Obama said.

Obama Pressured to Investigate Intelligence Distortion
The president noted that US citizens have been concerned about possible terrorist threats since the Paris assaults, many expressed fear for the first time since the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

Obama’s announcement comes when several countries around the world, including in France, Tunisia and Belgium, declared a state of emergency in after terrorist attacks. The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility for the tragedy in Paris that left 130 people killed and over 360 injured.

On Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry said it is a question of when, not if a Paris-like terror attack is carried out in the United States by one or several US residents.

The US government beefed up security across the country after a group of terrorists conducted seven coordinated attacks in Paris on November 13, killing at least 130 people. The Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks in Paris.
