MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A 16-year-old teenager was shot near the Mojave High School in Las Vegas and died later on at a local hospital, KVVU TV reports citing police.
North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) Officer Aaron Patty said that the shooting occurred during a fight.
Police did not confirm whether the teenager shot on Friday was a student at the Mojave High School, KVVU TV said.
The high school campus was on lockdown after the incident. Police continue searching for the shooter.
The motives behind the shooting are unknown.
The United States has seen a growing number of mass shooting incidents over the past year, including at least three school shootings in October.
More than 39,500 gun violence incidents took place in the country in 2015, according to the White House.
