“Those people are still out there [protesting], surrounding the precinct even as police point weapons at them from the roof of the building,” Gross told Sputnik. “This community is on the verge of becoming another Ferguson.”
On Sunday, police fatally shot Jamar Clark, 24, in the head. According to activists, Clark was lying on the ground handcuffed and was not resisting at the time of the shooting, while police claim he was not handcuffed and tried to disarm an officer.
Gross emphasized that the protests outside of the police precinct of the officers who were involved in the Jamar Clark arrest were peaceful.
The protests come as Minneapolis police released the names of the two officers involved in the arrest of Jamar Clark on Wednesday.
Waves of protests against police brutality have swept the United States in the past year following police killing of unarmed primarily, but not exclusively, African American men. Police in the United States have killed at least 1,000 Americans in 2015.
