State Department officials had pressured staff to urgently review excerpts from Clinton’s memoir related to the killing of the US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, and had also found "factual errors" on the Iran chapter, documents obtained by watchdog Judicial Watch revealed on Wednesday.
"Hillary Clinton can get her book, despite disclosing classified material, approved in record time from the same State Department that is slow-walking and obstructing… the release of the notorious Clinton e-mails about Benghazi and other scandals," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement.
Judicial Watch also found that State Department officials had tried to destroy draft copies of Clinton’s book that were undergoing revisions and had attempted to destroy the existing manuscripts of the excerpts on Iran after the Department’s Iran Desk had expressed concerns.
Since March, Clinton has faced severe criticism for using a personal e-mail account and server to conduct official business while she served as secretary of state.
