A cybersecurity expert explained to Sputnik's BradCast six ways that hackers could manipulate the upcoming US elections, in part because of the widespread popularity of electronic voting.

At Least Six Ways to Hack the 2016 Election
Security expert and chief of operations of Texas-based security firm Superior Solutions, Michael Gregg told Radio Sputnik's BradCast of at least six ways to hack the upcoming US elections.

The threats include denial of service attacks, attacks on voter registration records which could prevent voting, delete or change election records, hijacking a candidate's website, and releasing a candidate's personal information.

"Attackers could potentially get in and do these things and it would be very hard to prove. The scary part is, by the time any of this is worked out, the election is over with, so it's too late," Michael Gregg said.

According to Gregg, it is also possible to make attacks geographically to target districts leaning toward a certain candidate, which could make an impact in close elections.

Other hacks may actually be made ahead of elections, unnoticed on the actual election day. The impact may be especially influential in primary elections, according to Gregg.
